Every year even every month animals lose their lives to poisoning by antifreeze consumption. The chemical content of ethylene glycol is broken down by the liver to a toxic product, which is passed into the kidneys resulting in acute kidney failure and death.

Equally this substance has a sweet taste and smell enticing animals to lick it. Adding Bittrex as a bitterant will mean they are no longer attracted to it which is half of the issue!! It can even be found in road grit leading to even more potential deaths as dogs are walked during the winter months, hence the warning to dog owners to wipe their paws on return to their homes!! It is even put in water fountains by people to ensure their features don't freeze causing wildlife to also suffer...

It is incredibly slow and painful; and heart breaking for the countless owners all who, like me, want manufacturers to be made to switch to using propylene glycol instead. Poisoning is caused both deliberately and accidentally, so please sign this to show the support to get this changed once and for all! Updated Nov 2015 - it is still very clearly a prominent issue as I am still reading of numerous cases. Last December, a Sherwood Conservative MP (the very party you stand for) took this to Parliament, yet it is still OK for manufacturers to use what they deem fit to produce this stuff. They must to be forced to use the safer and less attractive chemicals without further delay it is simply not good enough that they are allowed to use the cheaper options to line their pockets - do our animals who are our family really matter that little? Or will it take a child losing their life to get this noticed? There are already instances of humans being poisoned by this so what will it be next?
