Cow worship has been integral to the identity of India for millenia.Cow slaughter remained banned not only during ancient period but also medieval period.Mahatma Gandhi said 'Freedom or no freedom,there should be no cow slaughter'.It's an irony then that cow salughter should be practised in any state of India in any form.There is no such thing as India that is Bharat,no matribhumi(motherland) where the soil gets soaked with the blood of mother cow and her progeny.If India doesn't protect the cow who will?
