Stephen Sutton was a courageous young man who set the whole country (and beyond) a magnificent example of selflessness, care for others and openness to life in the face of his own illness.He is an inspirational role model for young people, especially those whose dreams have been dashed through illness, family breakdown or inability to find work and an example of what is the  best in all of us. 

People have asked to have him honoured after his death, and that is right, for he captures so much of what we are trying to do, but as Stephen stands for the young who will form our future society, it is time to create a new award for the young, for care of others and start making a first step to a new, more egalitarian, less elitist award system that truly recognises all the  best of human values.

 Society, community, relationships all are about making a difference, reaching out, being non-discriminatory, caring for all no matter who they are. Our awards system should reflect all of us and look towards the future not a feudal past.

Stephen reached out and cared for others especially young cancer sufferers, so reach out and help support this petition to  create a Stephen Award for care in the community!
