HEADS MUST ROLL AT ZESA HOLDINGS

The Issue

 

The Board, Directors and Management of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has failed the people of Zimbabwe by the constant and destructive power cuts without any communication on the status quo and details of their power cuts routine.

ZESA committed through its mission statement to: ‘Providing affordable, safe, and reliable electricity, engineering and telecommunication services’. With the Introduction of the prepaid meters we looked forward to ZESA Developing and managing resources vital to their success and in pursuit of excellence in providing the services deserving to their customers and community.

As an institution ZESA values transparency and professionalism. Sadly they choose not to inform the members of public on why there are continuous power cuts. As a country we experienced load shedding since 2007 due to what have been reported as shortage of capacity and high demand for electricity, surely who would run an institution that envision providing affordable, safe, and reliable electricity, engineering and telecommunication services for 6 years and not be innovative on how to address such a crisis.

We call upon the Board, Directors and Management of ZESA to respect the people of Zimbabwe, honor and fulfill their mandate and supply electricity to the nation or resign and handover to capable individuals with the people of Zimbabwe at heart and committed to the delivery of the mandate of providing affordable, safe, and reliable electricity, and engineering and telecommunication services.

Where is the revenue from Prepaid ZESA purchase going if it is not facilitating for upgrading, repairing and investing in purchase of equipment required for an uninterrupted power supply? Who is responsible and till when are the power cuts to continue without informing us of cause and routine.
