UPDATE 6/23/2010: After unanimously passing both the House and the Senate, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue signed Susie's Law into law today. More than 700 Change.org community members spoke up for stronger laws against animal cruelty, including making it a felony to starve an animal to death. Thanks to everyone who sent a message to North Carolina legislators on behalf of the animals!

The North Carolina House of Representatives is considering "Susie's Law," which would make it a felony to starve an animal to death intentionally, as well as strengthen penalties for other abuses.

The NC House has a chance to show people in their state and across the country that North Carolina cares about animals and their well-being.
