Introduce a borough-wide 20mph zone

The Issue

Evidence shows that making the whole borough a 20mph zone would make our streets safer and more pleasant spaces. Three people were killed and 96 people seriously injured on Lewisham's roads last year. Nine other London boroughs, including Greenwich, are proposing to introduce borough-wide 20mph zones. The Met Police are preparing for stricter enforcement of 20mph limits and evidence shows they reduce deaths and serious injuries in motor vehicle crashes, as well as reducing pollution and traffic noise. Lewisham council have so far refused to consider a borough-wide zone despite the cost being estimated at as little as £350,000. Lewisham residents deserve better!
