Why haven’t we, the residents been consulted?

More and more building developments are destroying valuable pockets of nature whilst 100,000's of sq ft remain empty in existing buildings in Islington alone.

The benefits of our trees are plentiful and here are just some of them:

• Trees are an important part of our community
• Trees create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.
• Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings
• Trees provide to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality and supporting wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide an produce the oxygen we breathe.
• A single tree produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. That means two mature trees can supply enough oxygen annually to support a family of four!
• One tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles.

Over the course of its life a single tree can absorb on e ton of carbon dioxide.
