Michael Gove is trying to remove discussion of environmental issues almost totally from the new KS1 and KS2 Science curriculum. We have only a few days to tell him that this is wrong.

Tell Gove that we have an international obligation to educate our citizens properly about the environment, which he appears to have ignored. Article 13a of the UN’s Convention on Biological Diversity (to which the UK is a signatory) states that members must:

“Promote and encourage understanding of the importance of, and the measures required for, the conservation of biological diversity, as well as its propagation through media, and the inclusion of these topics in educational programmes.”

Gove thinks this doesn't matter, but it does. The environment underpins our economy, our health and our future jobs. We need to talk about the value of the environment with pupils, not hush it up.
