Leave Kidlingtons Badgers in Peace

The Issue

All over the country wildlife is losing out in the relentless march to build more and more houses. In Kidlington, Oxfordshire we are trying to save a large colony of badgers from being destroyed to build one house.  Can you help us, please?

Graham Flint, Managing Director of Kidlington based developers Pye Homes, wants to build a home in this lovely village. His chosen plot of land is an important, main badger sett that has been occupied for over 20 years.

Mr Flint is keen to start building on the sett. He has cut down protected trees and cleared conservation area land without planning permission. We have had to pressure the Council to enforce the law protecting badgers from disturbance during their breeding season. If Natural England grant a licence, Pye Homes will be allowed to destroy the sett in July. The badgers will be forced out and offered an artificial sett in a field that is prone to flooding. We fear the future of the badgers is bleak and so do the Oxfordshire Badger Group, who are helping us in our fight against this development.

Pye Homes are a local company that own much of the Kidlington green belt around the historic St Mary's church village conservation area in Oxfordshire. They specialise in building housing in the most desirable rural areas, often over the strong objections of the affected communities. Our badgers are under threat and have no other voice. Help us to tell Graham Flint to leave the Webbs Way Badgers in peace.
