End Parolee Abuse in Colorado
End Parolee Abuse in Colorado
The Issue
The state of Colorado seemingly has many issues relating to the mistreatment of their Parolee’s by the justice system and Parole Officers and have made it habitual to cover up their misconduct. My story is about one person and still so many more are suffering daily.
My husband is on Mandatory Parole in Colorado and has been severely mistreated included being punished for dismissed crimes and crimes not committed. He was forced to live in a life threaten situation even after a physical attack took place, He is also being forced to attend classes for issues he doesn’t have. Recently he was informed that he is no longer allowed to touch a computer because of a Petition on Change.org. He was specifically informed that they had evidence suggesting he started the petition and informed him he wasn’t allowed to start petitions, he is now considered “non-compliant”. He registered to go to collage for computers and now he can not attend School because he isn’t allowed to touch computers or even write a letter or sign anything on his own behalf. My husband isn’t allowed to disagree with them or fight them no matter how unjust they are. When someone attempts to fight for him he is punished for it.
Why is Colorado Justice System allowed to destroy lives rather then help?
Why are Parole Officers allowed to torment Parolee’s?
Why did Colorado Parole tell my husband that I and he must forfeit our 1st amendment right other wise he is in violation and sent back to Jail?
Why is Colorado trying to get my husband to mess up by backing him in a corner? Why do they want these men in Jail rather then doing better?
Here is what I am hoping to accomplish with your help and support;
1) I would like to see all non-violent offenders (including my husband) who have served all their time in prison and are currently on Mandatory Parole be discharged from the Parole System completely (time served).
2) All people serving Mandatory Parole who have suffered hardship inflicted by the Colorado Justice and Parole System including my husband (Derek Pruitt) should be dismissed from Parole as time served.
3) Colorado Parole should not be allowed to punish a Parolee or change a Parolee’s Parole plan due to another person’s actions, nor should any Parolee or family of a Parolee be forced to forfeit their constitutional rights as a condition to keep a Parolee out of Prison.
4) Parole Officers should not be allowed to share information or gossip on their case’s as it forces the entire Parole community to gang up on one Parolee. Sharing information leaves the Parolee in a very unfair situation.
5) I would like to see a hotline set up so that Parolee’s can call it discreetly and report Parole Officers and other Law Enforcement for misconduct and power abuse in which corrective actions take place when an officer is reported.
Please help support our cause and end Parolee abuse and end abuse/corruption cover-up. I feel enforcing these laws would help limit case loads for Parole officers which makes less angry officers, it also frees up space in the over crowed system, reduces Parolee abuse, in addition encourages recovery and family unity.
