It's never been officially confirmed but the reason Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) was shut down is because LucasArts refused to renew the Star Wars copyright to Sony Online Entertainment (SoE) as they thought it would be a conflict of interest as Star Wars: The Old Republic was due to be released. And so because of LucasArts greed hundreds of thousands of fans lost something they had loved and played for 8 years.

Now as we know Disney has bought LucasArts and Disney likes money so we propose that Disney speak with SoE about bringing SWG back (even if it means we have to all start again as I doubt SoE kept their server saves).

Everyone I have spoken to in an MMO since SWG was shut down has wished it wasn't gone, especially those who tried SW:TOR and many of us had multiple accounts I think it would still be very profitable for SoE and Disney let alone make so many people happy, plus what could be better for Disney to do since they bought the Star Wars franchise than to please the very fans they'll have to win over? It would be minimal effort for Disney to give SoE the rights and little effort for SoE to bring up a couple of servers again so win, win, win right?

TLDR = BRING BACK STAR WARS GALAXIES!
