I am concerned to see documentation that implicates British Special Forces in the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The files stops short of detailing the precise nature of the plan so it is not clear how it relates to the Indian Government’s response.

Victims and their families deserve to know the precise nature of Britain’s involvement; who was involved, what assistance Britain gave India and most importantly the nature of the plans. In light of these revelations I am calling on the Government to launch an urgent inquiry into British involvement. Further all remaining correspondence should be released, including the months and days leading up to and after the attack.
