Ban Animal-Acts In Ontario Circuses

Ban Animal-Acts In Ontario Circuses

The Issue

Circuses from all over the world feature a wide array of animals as part of their attractions and to many people the animals are the highlight of the show. Unfortunately the way animals are forced to behave in circuses couldn't be farther from their natural behavior. To get the animals to behave in such a fashion they are subjected to deplorable acts of cruelty. Trainers use abuse and fear tactics to drive animals to do the various tricks that are required of them. Such tactics include pain inflicted with electrical prods, whips, and large hooks. This repeated abuse often causes such terrible stress on the animals that they will begin to self mutilate.

If such physical assaults were not enough, circuses are also cruel because they force animals that naturally have large ranges in the wild, such as big cats, elephants, and many more, to be confined to small and unappealing enclosures. Many circuses will spend as much as 50 weeks a year on the road. During which time animals spend the majority of their time in confinement.

Please take the time to write to Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and ask that he take effective and immediate action to ban all Circuses that use Animal-Acts from exhibiting in the Province of Ontario.
