All Sugared Up: Tell Stonyfield Farm to cut the sugar in their baby yogurt!

All Sugared Up: Tell Stonyfield Farm to cut the sugar in their baby yogurt!

The Issue

According to a January 2005 study in the Journal of Pediatrics, the average 4- to 5-year-old consumes 17 teaspoons of added sugar a day, which amounts to approximately 64.6 pounds of added sugar a year. The majority of a child's added sugar intake comes from products with added sugar, such as that found in Stonyfield Farms' YoBaby Yogurt 6-packs.

A single container of yogurt has 13 grams of sugar, the drinkable yogurts have a staggering 24 grams. That's 3 teaspoons of sugar in each 4-ounce cup, and 6 teaspoons of sugar in the drinkable version! Would you spoon 6 spoonfuls of sugar in your baby's mouth? So why does Stonyfield think we want this in our baby's yogurt?

This petition is to ask Stonyfield to make some changes. As a progressive, mission-driven company, it should be a no-brainer for Stonyfield to:

1. cut the amount of sugar in both products in half

2. create a fruit-sweetened only variety with NO refined sugar at all!

Thank you so much for signing!
