What would happen if a Gulf Coast-sized oil spill took place off the shores of Alaska?

The state of Alaska is opposing a plan to designate 187,000 acres of critical habitat for polar bears - land that would protect nearly the entire range of habitat for every polar bear in Alaska, but which interferes with the interests of Big Oil.
