The Nova Scotia Government: Deny the request for an exclusive marine lease of Scott's Bay, Nova Scotia, to Halcyon Tidal Power.

The Nova Scotia Government: Deny the request for an exclusive marine lease of Scott's Bay, Nova Scotia, to Halcyon Tidal Power.
The Issue
Scott's Bay, Nova Scotia, is a community rich in history and natural attractions. The Cape Split Provincial Park Reserve, which is host to endangered spieces, attracts tourists from all over the world. Up to 40,000 visitors to the region each year come for natural untouched beauty of the area. Our long beaches and gorgeous views draws admirers for family time, rock hounding, and photography. With active fishing still taking place in the waters of Scott's Bay, it would be misguided to say that a 3 billion dollar concrete power dam construction would not impact the traditional fishing grounds of local fishermen or other marine life.
Local small businesses have invested their lives and financial well being in ventures that depend on the tourist industry in the area. A power dam across Scott's Bay would detract from the natural beauty which attracts visitors year round.
A large lagoon style tidal dam, as Halcyon Tidal Power is proposing, would destroy the industries in Scott's Bay, Nova Scotia, and the surrounding areas. It would ruin what people who have settled here for generations have worked hard for. It would disrupt marine life, and it would cause the downfall of a region.
Halcyon Tidal Power has no vested interest in the area. They are not a stakeholder in the families, businesses, and natural wonders of our area. They want to build a power project that would expand from Cape Split, a site that is sacred in aboriginal lore, to Baxter's Harbour. Please sign your name to show that you do not support the proposed project by Halcyon Tidal Power.
