Every year, hundreds of thousands of wild animals, representing hundreds of different species, are slain by trophy hunters. By allowing trophy hunters to display their kills on Facebook pages Facebook is perpetuating the heartless and environmentally detrimental practice of trophy hunting.

Affluent trophy hunters pay enormous fees to kill animals in order to appease their egos. They either have the entire animal they have killed stuffed by a taxidermist in order to place it in their trophy room at home or at other times just the head, horns or paws to mounted on the wall plaques. By way of example animals hunted down and killed include black bears, giraffes, impala, black bears, zebra, lions, mountain goats, white tail/deer, boars, baboons and many more species. Trophy hunters also are killing, endangered species such as elephants, leopards and white rhinos (the Western African black rhino was recently officially declared to be “extinct”). Despite its obvious cruelty and destruction to wildlife populations, many countries licence trophy hunters to go out and kill defenses unsuspecting animals.

By signing this petition and requesting Facebook remove these sites/pages you are saying no to this appalling practise and yes to the defense and right to life of all animals as they cannot speak out for themselves.
