Help Save Our Pesticide Bylaw!

The Issue

The city wants to repeal our successful HRM Pesticide Bylaw. They say it's redundant, that the Provincial Bylaw is enough. If HRM scraps the Pesticide Bylaw we will lose:

1) Mandatory buffer zones around schools, daycares, hospitals, clinics, senior citizens' residences, universities and churches.

2) Pre-signage before more dangerous pesticides are used - eliminating our ability to avoid involuntary pesticide exposure.

3) Pre-notification when more toxic pesticide products are used.

4) The permitting process

Chemical pesticides are toxic and can have a serious effect on many people, especially the young, old, chronically ill, and chemically sensitive.

Help keep the citizens of HRM safe. Please sign this petition before April 15th. Also, please take the time, if you can, to email or phone Mayor Savage. (490-4010) mayor@halifax.ca
