The octopus is a sentient being, deserving not to be murdered and used as a trivial moment of frivolous entertainment for hockey fans. The organization is supporting animal abuse in a most callous form. I created this petition after watching yet another octopus die for the sake of entertainment at a home game of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. It made me sick to my stomach that nobody was enraged. I wondered what would happen if somebody tossed out a murdered puppy or kitten.. And thus this petition. No more! End this barbaric practice, boot any and every fan that brings any dead animal to the game for such purposes, and revoke season's passes for anyone involved in this unfortunate form of sick mascot activity.
