All art needs space to grow.
After many discussions with local artists and residents of Hudson, we (Hudson Music Festival) have a dream to turn this Hudson landmark, situated in the central part of the village, into an Arts and Cultural Centre which will be open and available to the whole community. This site could contain a large gallery/exhibition space, production and rehearsal space, artists-in-residence space, studio workshops (pottery, glass, sculpture, painting) and an arts education centre. All of these drastically lacking in the region. This project/idea would be managed by the HMF and community artists in a non-profit co-op form.
The City of Hudson would like to turn this location into a municipal garage where large trucks will come and go everyday, even though this building is located in the centre of the village beside fine boutiques, two historical houses and the town museum. The town has plans to put a small park under the centennial trees that grow beside this Old Firehouse; we believe transforming this building into a cultural hub would further help to beautify and rejuvenate the village core.
