This is a petition that we have been asked to circulate by our friends and allies in the Tla-o-qui-aht nation, please join the call for a mining moratorium on Tla-o-qui-aht territories. 

Tla-o-qui-aht seeks to implement sustainable livelihoods, restoration of fish stocks, and to also maintain the spiritual integrity of the Tofino/Tranquil watersheds. Ecotourism, green energy, hatcheries, and vibrant, healthy fish stocks and forests, are also management objectives of the Tla-o-qui-aht Land Use Plan. The BC provincial government believes it has balanced public, private and Aboriginal interests in allowing for mineral exploration in Clayoquot Sound’s Tranquil watershed; please sing this petition to help us show there is widespread public opposition to the Fandora mine exploration and support for a mining moratorium.

The below signatories, support the Tla-o-qui-aht Land Use Planning objectives of not having Mining as a permissible use in the Tofino/Tranquil watersheds. The below signatories also support Tla-o-qui-aht’s objectives of having a moratorium on all mining activities in the Haahuulthii of the Tla-o-qui-aht Hawiih, (~traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht Chiefs).
