Review of decision for Principal Position at Champlain Heights School:
The Issue
After much feedback for the past few days, i have heard many stories about the children of the school expressing much sadness at this decision. They understand that Mr. Bonner is retiring but WHY would Ms. Murphy not be Principal? It's the logical answer to a child, and many families as well.
Please remember we are not disputing that the recipiant of the position is qualified, we are disputing the disregard for so many parental and public opinions. Please continue to share the petition and show our strenght in numbers.
Our schoolboard is making decisions that are against the wishes of the parents, and taxpayers. At the very least we are owed an explanation as to why Ms. Ellen Murphy was not offered the Principal Position at Champlain Heights School when it was recommened by many of her peers, and parent groups of the school. When does our opinion start to count?? It is our children in the school, it is our community.
I am very sad to announce that the Champlain Heights School staffing will be drastically changed in the Fall. As many of you may already know Mr. Bonner will be retiring this coming June. I was very happy to learn that Ms. Ellen Murphy applied for the principal position. Such a good fit she would be for the Principal's Position. She lives in our community, has both taught and attended CHS. Ms. Murphy's genuine passion shines through daily at the school. She is always there... to greet the children with a smile and demonstrates a fierce loyalty to the school and our children. The relentless effort, passion, and dedication of both Mr. Bonner & Ellen Murphy are what makes our school unique. I feel that losing both of these wonderful educational administrators at the same time is an injustice to our school. We would not only be losing her educational experience but a wealth of knowledge and history of the school.
The parents and families of the school deserve to have their opinions heard and respected. Let's keep Champlain Heights Elementary the school where our opinions still count!
PLease sign this petition and show that our opinion matters
!!.
Thank you
