Gender inequality still affects people in everyday life, from the wage disparity between men and women to LBGTI rights. UQ has been teaching Gender Studies for 41 years and it is the only university in Queensland that does so. UQ is also one of the few remaining universities in Australia thats offers Gender Studies as a major. These cuts are part of a larger epidemic of universities scaling back Arts programs and limiting student choice in education.
