Stop reneging on Enterprise Bargaining Agreements and ignoring Fair Work Commission recommendations.

The issue

We, the undersigned members of the public, including CAE students and former students, are dismayed at the current initiative by CAE Management to reduce the entitlements of CAE staff conditions.

The Centre for Adult Education has provided accessible education to Victorian adults of all ages, for over 60 years. Courses today range from Short (eg Languages, Police Entrance exam) to Accredited & Nationally Recognised Training (eg Business, VCE, Vict Cert of Applied Learning). Further, CAE adds value in providing networking and social interaction opportunities.

The State Government has already torn $2.1 billion from the TAFE system since gaining office, and we deplore this further attack on education.

CAE staff are passionate, committed and make a valuable contribution to the fabric of Melbourne’s community. Treat the CAE staff with the fairness and respect they deserve. Negotiations have been going on for over 3 years, with pay frozen over that time.

We support maintenance of the CAE and staff conditions, including staff relativity with respect to permanent teachers in the state system.
