The Napthine Government’s decision to close Sandhurst Centre in Bendigo creates great uncertainty for this close-knit community. The decision must be about improving support and care for residents and providing certainty for families and staff.
It should not be driven by cost-cutting!

Certainty for residents: Many residents have lived most of their lives at Sandhurst. They want continuity of care, and the staff they know to move with them. They also want and assurances that costs won’t rise. The Napthine Government have refused to guarantee this.

Certainty for families: Families want experienced staff to continue to support for their loved ones. The Napthine Government won’t guarantee any of this.

Certainty for staff: The 80 staff are dedicated to supporting residents, but have financial and family commitments of their own. Staff need job security and commitments that their wages and conditions won’t be cut. The Napthine Government have refused to give any guarantees about these issues.
