Appeal the wiretapping charges against a bullied student
Appeal the wiretapping charges against a bullied student
The issue
In McDonald, Pennsylvania, a sophomore high school student with special-ed needs was constantly being bullied with no intervention. To put an end to it, on February 11 he brought his school-issued iPad to class and recorded audio of fellow classmates abusing him, with the teacher doing nothing to intervene.
When Shea Love, a fomer United States Air Force radio operator, was given the audio by her son, she took it to the school principal.
He in turn called the police on her son on charges of wiretapping.
The case went to court, where March 19 District Judge McGraw-Desmet ruled in favor of the high school, not the Loves.
This is unacceptable on so many levels. Our schools are so verbally against bullying, yet when evidence is in their face, they do nothing?
Ms. Love and her son are guilty of no charges and should be dropped of all accusations, and the boys who are responsible for her son's abuse should be punished accordingly.
