We, the undersigned staff and students at the University of Tasmania, believe that the proposed increases to the cost of car parking should not occur without appropriate consultation with staff and students.

 We call on the university to defer any increase to parking fees until:

1. Consultation is held with staff and students to consider ways to mitigate any adverse affects from the introduction of increased fees

2. Alternative public transport options for staff and students are secured, and other measures such as park and ride facilities are introduced

3. A fee structure is created that is fair and equitable for all, and is directly related to income scale

4. Staff and students at CBD campuses are not disadvantaged by the increase
