Agriculture Land Commission of BC : Turn down the request to allow nonfarm use (a gravel pit) on the agricultural land known as 5801 Brentwood Rd in the BX Ravine, Vernon, BC.
The Issue
A gravel pit is proposed for a property that is bordered by two popular hiking trails, the BX Falls trail and the Grey Canal trail in Vernon BC. The fish bearing BX creek runs parallel to the property which is in the agricultural land reserve and surrounded by orchards, and working farms. Neighbours, outdoor groups and area politicians are banding together to stop this. Hundreds of people have already signed petitions and a submission will go to the Agricultural Land Commission soon requesting that they deny the Non Farm use request.
