Do Your Job: Media Accountability For Gaza Now!

Do Your Job: Media Accountability For Gaza Now!
The Issue
📣 CAMPAIGN CALL TO ACTION
The US media is not a neutral observer—it’s a powerful actor that has manufactured consent for Israel’s crimes in Gaza, including the mass starvation of civilians. Through biased reporting, selective silence, and sanitized language, major outlets have obscured the truth and dehumanized the Palestinian people. This failure has enabled genocide, shielded power from accountability, and helped normalize war crimes in the eyes of the world.
We demand an end to media complicity.

✊ OUR DEMANDS TO THE MEDIA
1. Tell the Truth Clearly and Without Euphemism
- Stop using passive language that hides accountability (e.g., “people are starving” vs. “Israel is starving people”).
- Name the crimes accurately—use terms like genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and collective punishment when they are supported by legal and factual evidence.
2. Report the Full Humanitarian Picture
- Cover the scale of the catastrophe in Gaza: famine, targeted aid blockades, attacks on humanitarian convoys, and mass civilian deaths.
- Provide sustained coverage of Palestinian suffering—not just Israeli perspectives or reaction narratives.
3. Amplify Palestinian Voices
- Prioritize Palestinian journalists, survivors, experts, and analysts in your reporting.
- End the disproportionate reliance on Israeli government and military sources, which distorts the reality on the ground.
4. Reject Donor and Lobbyist Pressure
- Disclose and reject editorial influence from pro-Israel lobbying groups, political donors, and corporate advertisers.
- Commit to independent journalism free from political bias and external pressure.
5. Stop False Equivalence and Moral Ambiguity
- Acknowledge the asymmetry of power: between occupier and occupied, colonizer and colonized.
- Stop presenting genocide as a “both sides” issue. Silence, distortion, or false balance aids perpetrators—not the public.

🧨 WHY THIS MATTERS
When the media fails, people die. If the press had done its job—exposing the siege, naming the starvation, centering the victims—global pressure could have saved lives. Instead, babies in Gaza are dying while media outlets sanitize genocide under the guise of “objectivity.”
We demand an end to biased and inaccurate reporting. Media: Do your job, tell the truth. Gaza’s survival depends on it.
