High voltage power lines despoil our neighbourhoods and the precious Manukau Foreshore area.
Three large high voltage power lines snake their way across Mt Roskill, ruining views, restricting people's ability to develop their properties, blighting one of Auckland's most important ecological areas, and making our urban environment less pleasant. It wouldn't be accepted in suburbs bordering the Waitemata Harbour, and it shouldn't be here.
Transpower will pay central government over $500 million in dividends to subsidise other services over the next three years. A portion of this profit would bury all of the pylons that blight our community. Our community should not have to carry the burden when a solution is possible. It is time for Transpower and central government to Bury the Pylons.
