Violence against women and girls is one of the most pervasive human rights violations worldwide.

Approximately one out of every three women worldwide will be beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in her lifetime.

The International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) is a landmark bipartisan piece of legislation recently introduced in the U.S. Congress that would create a comprehensive strategy to address violence against women and girls across U.S. foreign assistance programs.

This bill could effectively address the problem of violence against women and girls around the world and will help signify U.S. leadership on this critical issue.
