Just Say No To Renewable Energy Zones On Public Lands
I fear we are about to make the biggest mistake we could possibly make when it comes to looking for new ways to repower America.
Last year, Interior Department Secretary Ken Salazar announced the formation of an energy and climate change task force and while that sounds like a good idea I fear the plan is sorely lacking as an alternative to solving America's energy needs.
Not that it wouldn't reduce global warming-- it would-- but it would have the same environmental impact on our public BLM (Bureau of Land Management) lands as would drilling for oil. Fact is: The goal of Secretary Salazar's energy and climate change task force is to open more public lands to development under the guise of energy independence and fighting climate change.
Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% in favor of wind and solar to power America I just think it's a mistake to destroy public lands to do so. That's why I'm hoping you'll support me in my effort to put alternative energy installations where people live instead of running bulldozers through our deserts, forests, fields and mountain ranges by placing these installations on millions of acres of land we have already ruined.
