I am writing because I am disappointed to learn that the United States is spending $2.7 billion every day on war.
At a time when we can't find the money to fund and rebuild our nation's schools, can't provide basic health care for our people, and can't create good jobs in the communities that need them most, I am saddened by the fact that a full 57% of next year's discretionary federal budget is earmarked for war.
Please, I urge you to help change our priorities. We can spend less on war and more on helping our communities thrive.
We can do better than to fight bitterly over issues like the cost of providing health care when we are spending such huge amounts on war.
The time has come for us to recognize that we don't need to spend $2.7 billion every day on wars that don’t make us safer.
Thank you.
