Ask Congress to Allow Haitian Families to Reunite

The Issue

A new bill in Congress, the Haitian Emergency Life Protection Act of 2010 (the H.E.L.P Act), would allow more than 55,000 Haitians who had family-sponsored immigration petitions to approved before the January 12 earthquake to immediately reunite with family members in the United States.

By temporarily expanding category “V” non-immigrant visas to include these Haitians with family members living the U.S. the bill would eliminate a major backlog in processing requests that has meant delays of years for many of these Haitian families.

This would be a temporary measure designed to reunite families devastated by the earthquake that had already been patiently waiting for slow moving immigration processes.

There is no reason to keep these families apart. Write to your representatives today and ask them to support the H.E.L.P Act.
