Tamworth Borough Council is seeking to install the LitterCam system on the A5.

The A5 suffers from terrible amounts of litter that is discarded by uncaring motorists. It costs public money to clean and endangers wildlife, as well as making the town look messy.

The LitterCam system would see high definition video recorded in high litter sections of the A5 and video of litter being thrown from cars automatically matched to number plates, so litter enforcement officers can issue on the spot fines. However, Highways England are refusing to allow the council to install the systems on their lampposts.

We request that Highways England change their position and allow the LitterCam system to be installed on their lampposts so the battle against litter in Tamworth can continue.
