STOP Parking Fee Ordinance for Residential Hallandale Beach

STOP Parking Fee Ordinance for Residential Hallandale Beach

The Issue

STOP proposed digital fees in targeted areas of Hallandale Beach which will put a FINANCIAL BURDEN on every City resident who uses street parking attending children's sports at City Parks or YMCA and / or lives on Golden Isles Drive, 14th Avenue, Three Islands Blvd., Atlantic Shores , Leslie Drive, Diana Drive, Parkview Dr. and / or shops on Fashion Row (popular for bargain shoppers). Note that there are already LIMITED spaces.  Now it MAY cost as much as $40 to park overnight or $8+ to watch a ball game...especially burdensome on Seniors & low income residents. The option of approx. $360 per year for certain streets will NOT guarantee a space. Sign below, SHARE and participate in fighting the ordinance being written as next step of proposal passed 5-0; Virtual Community Meeting was held July 19. Several questions were answered. Most were answered by the consultant hired to plan and implement the City wide parking scheme not by commissioners.
Not answered are:

1. WHY is the City short of funds? Why were funds spent that were not anticipated in Mileage rate calculations? 2. What costs are incurred hiring staff and implementing the plan? 3. How long before the gap in budget is filled & funds become available for services? 4. Will any funding be used exclusively for areas where residents are paying the fees? Begging the question, why are these residents being taxed to fill the budget deficit & subsequent additional services for all?
5. Why is there no discount for Seniors? Why is there no option for an annual pass for full time residents?
6. What other ways are being considered to TAX citizens outside of the mileage rate system?
Mention was made of this being part of the City plan to reduce cars. How is it government's right to tell citizens how many cars their family can own?
Public can still sign hard petitions (available attached), contact commissioners by phone and e-mail and attend, speak at, rally at two subsequent Public Commission votes August 2 & 19, 2021. Dates will be updated as time progresses. Sign up to speak at www.COHB/parking
If we do not fight NOW everyone will be subject to this inconvenient and costly burden.  ACT NOW or we will ALL regret it as this can begin a new phase of TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATIONSIGN NOW & SHARE!!!!
