The Issue

The Cinerama Dome is one of the most treasured cinemas in the world. It opened in 1963, and quickly became a historic landmark that represented Los Angeles and the power of movie theaters. The Forman family have operated the complex since it opened with the highest care and quality possible and remain the owners of the property through the Decurion Corporation & Robertson Properties Group. In 1998 they planned on demolishing the Cinerama Dome but due to public outcry the theater was saved. Sadly, we are facing this situation again. During the pandemic, Decurion issued a cryptic 5 sentence statement announcing the permanent closure of Pacific Theaters & Arclight Cinemas including the Dome. This was a shocking statement to all of Los Angeles. Decurion never went bankrupt, it just disappeared while still owning the property. The Cinerama Dome & Arclight Hollywood have been sitting completely abandoned & untouched for 5 years now. Our campaign Save The Cinerama Dome respectfully asks Mr. Christopher Forman CEO of The Decurion Corporation to either reopen the Cinerama Dome and continue to operate it as a cinema, or to lease the property to another exhibitor that is willing to operate it. Our petition has received over 28 thousand signatures and received attention from all around the world. We saved the Cinerama Dome from being demolished in 1998, I believe it can be saved again.
