A graduate of the University of Southern California, she has dedicated her volunteer and professional energies towards a variety of service oriented endeavors. While in college, Karla helped run a nonprofit organization, connecting mentors with low-income, elementary age children. In 2002, she served as a College Summit Fellow. She continued her work with College Summit in 2003 by helping to open a regional office in Northern California, and then by working in a variety of roles at College Summit workshops for rising high school seniors. She moved to Northern California in '03 to work for College Track, an after-school college access program. Karla managed both an academic and extra-curricular program there and eventually became a Site Director. Karla joined College Summit full-time as Volunteer Engagement Manager in January of 2007. In her tenure with College Summit she has scaled the volunteer operations from 400 people to 1,000+ people who did 800K hours of service in '08.
