Amend on Safe Schools Act of 2006
***This petition is for South Carolina residents only. If you are not in South Carolina, please refrain from signing. If anyone signs outside of South Carolina I will have to delete the signatures. This petition is going to the Senators and Representatives of the State of South Carolina. Thank you. ***See the video above? This happened in a South Carolina school back in the spring of 2012. It is one of several videos that made it to our local news. The reason for this petition is to amend on the Safe Schools Act of 2006. This Act states that schools must have some program in place that concerns the subject of bullying (Peer Abuse) or the schools will be fined. The schools have something in place. However, in many cases it is not affective. There is needs to be stiffer penalties for those engaging in this abuse. In the past few months, there have been videos sent in to the local media by parents that prove this abuse is happening to their children. I have seen this on three local networks. Adults need further education along with extensive training on the subject. Penalties for each age group should increase as well. I have talked to schools and they assure me all is well and no bullying is happening on their campuses. However, parents speak out daily about their children being hurt at school. The bottom line here is education and our state really needs it on this subject. These children are South Carolinas future. How can we expect them to grow into stable adults if they are being abused by their peers on a regular basis? In order to stop this problem, we must come together and unite as one. It takes effort from everyone in order to put a stop to this. Please, sign this petition for the children. They deserve to exist in a safe enviornment. Thank you for your time. Have a good day. Take Care, Elizabeth Bennett, M.Ed Founder: Safe Schools Act 2006
