Help a Veteran fighting a Builder for Damage
I am doing this for a special man named Donnie, he is a 68yo Veteran who is service related disabled and has cancer at the moment caused by Agent Orange. His home burned to the ground in November 2015 He bought a house from a company called Carolina Custom Homes of Burlington. His home is in a mess, there is damages and bad workmanship everywhere. The foundation has cracks and is flawed. The ceilings dip down, the rain water sits around and under the home. The company ruined the lay of the yard and water stands. The roof shingles are installed wrong. The outside trim on most of the windows are missing. Doors and all the woodwork are cut wrong, excessive paint, caulk and sheetrock mud is on all of the trimwork. Countertops are loose, floor tiles are missing, broken and loose, shower ceramic tiles are all crooked and messed up really bad, with multiple colors of grout and caulk everywhere. The plumbing is having problems now, water gets trapped in the pipes and makes loud noises and makes the water come out improperly, the lights flicker and dim. I could go on and on. Everything's a mess. An estimate was done by request of CCHB and 8-9 months later they have not paid him anything nor have they fixed anything. I have sent complaints on his behalf to the Department of Justice in North Carolina and to the Better Business Bureau of North Carolina. Neither organization could or would help. Carolina Custom Homes of Burlington sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau detailing how they would pay Donnie for the damages and for the wrong build of the dormers on the roof. They are repeatedly telling him they will NOT FIx anything until he removes the reviews that have been posted online by him. The estimate is over $50,000, Donnie only wants to settle for $35,000 or Have them refund him for the full cost of $164,897 Who out there can help him? Lawyers are asking for ridiculous amounts of money. Department of Justice is NO HELP and the Better Business Bureau is even less help. What can I do for him?
