Reduce the NBA Playoffs first round to a best-of-5
Since 2003, the opening round of the playoffs has been a best-of-7. The semi-finals, conference finals, and NBA finals are also a best-of-7. That is way too much basketball. Here are some reasons why NBA Commissioner Adam Silver should reduce the the opening round to a best-of-5 instead of best-of-7 1) More basketball doesn't mean more excitement. Look at the NCAA tourney. Single elimination! Less window to win means teams compress their energy in fewer opportunities and thus create better basketball! What a time to be alive! 2) Look at the East Conference opening round of basketball. That is a dumpster fire tucked into a turd machine. Please don't make us watch more of the East opening round than we need to. Half those teams are NIT bubble-esque. 3) Injuries: longer opening rounds means more risk to COMPLETELY BLOW IT for the rounds that matter. Eg. Steph Curry is out now for an extended period of time because of a garbage injury in the opening round. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin? Out for the REST OF THE PLAYOFFS. 4) MLB does it! Yes, the MLB Division Series of baseball goes best-of-5 then it turns into a best-of-7 in the playoffs after that. That is because the MLB is being fair and honest and not assuming the scrub teams that just eeked in deserve a best-of-7. Lastly, as a bonus, if you sign this petition you also support Slayer being the half-time entertainment of the 2016 NBA Finals. Thank you.
