Ask government to reject DOT proposal to charge Skype, Viber VOIP calls
Net neutrality treats all modes of digital communication and content equally. And the basis of charging for internet should be straight and based on how much network bandwidth we have used. When india has a network speed of 4th world countries and bringing a new way of charging VoIP calls is another way of milking poor customers who are already fed up of bad internet speeds. And VoIP and video calling is such a technology enabler that regulating or charging it will hold back all such startups who want to operate and innovate in this space. Like in US telecom providers and telecom regulators are the worst enemies of internet so is in India and they should be kept out of making rules and regulations for internet. It should be left to information technology ministry to understand the nuances and help Indian internet users and the industry.
