Return Neuqua Prom to a Friday
Prom is an integral event to signal the end of a high school career for students at Neuqua Valley High School. After four years of hard work, early morning wakeups, and 8 hours in school every day, seniors finally have a chance to relax and celebrate their achievements. And prom isn't just about the dance - it's about what comes before and after, the celebrations and the preparations, marking the beginning of the end for students. Part of the prom experience is what comes after the dance - the prom weekend celebrations. As one of the last chances to enjoy the company of their closest friends, students often elect to spend "prom weekend" in downtown Chicago, at a lake house, or at an amusement park. It's the last blast and an experience that only seniors have access to. However, with prom being tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, there is no opportunity to have the full prom weekend experience. Since the dance would be on a Saturday night, the experience would be more like Homecoming or Spring Fling. Furthermore, students will be more likely to take days off following the dance, creating an attendance situation for the Monday and Tuesday following prom. To truly give our seniors the celebration they deserve, prom must be restored to a Friday.
