Stop All Proposals for Construction of BMX Track in Kit Carson Park
In 2013 Vince McCurdy, the track owner of Kearney Moto Parks, proposed the construction of a BMX Track in Kit Carson Park to the Members of the Escondido Council, sparking an explosive response from local residents and a huge debate between the residents and outside BMX-ers who had been voted out of several other locations and wanted to bring BMX to Escondido. The end result was that the BMX-ers were encouraged to look elsewhere or build a park on non-public parkland. Now, four years later, several members of the EscondidoCity Council are poised to send a Request for Proposals (RCP) to possible future BMX track operators in order to decide if the city will build a track in one of four Escondido park locations, (two of which are in Kit Carson Park.) The two locations in KCP are considered the most desirable. We, the following citizens, hereby call for a stop to this RCP, and for a rejection of any future proposals to bring a BMX track to Kit Carson Park.
