Sweets Way: Fire Dorman's Security Thugs
Sweets Way is a housing estate in Barnet, N20, whose residence are presently under threat of eviction by Annington Homes and Barnet Homes, in yet another action of social cleansing in London. The site is presently being occupied; as their webstie puts it so well; ‘at a time when residents are being told there are no truly affordable homes left in Barnet, Annington should not be allowed to bulldoze our homes to make way for luxury flats!’ On the evening of 2 September 2015, security guards from Dorman & Co attacked two occupiers on site Sweetopia, the Sweets Way resistance group. In six months of peaceful protest, this is the first act of violence; performed by a firm that had only been on site for a few hours. Additionally, the guards were not displaying any identification, which is illegal. They also attempted to prevent their violent and unprovoked actions from being filmed, but they failed. This petition calls for the security guards who committed this vicious assault on the peaceful activists of Sweets Way to be fired immediately. They have broken the law and violently attacked people. We call on Dorman to also remove themselves from Sweets Way; or if not, for Barnet Council to remove them.
