Justice for Yoga Teachers at Puregym Staines
I have been teaching Yoga at Puregym in Staines since September, 2015. I have taught Yoga to hundereds of Puregym in the past two years and all of them love my classes. However, my classes were wrongfully dismissed at the behest of gym managers, Tom Parker and Dale because I refused to teach a free class. Please be aware that Puregym doesn't pay to any of its instructors. Being a Yoga teacher, members would pay me directly which means that if 2 people came to the class, I would only earn 8 pounds. On June 4th, I was away so I informed the gym and offered to arrange for a cover instructor, but the gym manager made things very difficult for the cover instructor - she couldn't teach as a result. No class took place on that day and the gym started harrassing me. They forced me to teach a free class as an act of reparation. I refused to do that because I told them that if people didn't get a class, they didn't pay for it either. I emphasized that I had tried my best to arrange for a cover instructor but they didn't let her teach. I also pointed out that I have never missed a class in the past two years. After my refusal to teach a free class, they sent me an email saying that they can't trust me anymore and as a result they are dismissing my classes forever. This is very unfair. The trust was just fine if I agreed to teach a free class, but suddenly I became untrustworthy because I didn't give into the pressure. This is injustice! Thankfully, I have other sources of income but imagine if this happened to a teacher who relies heavily on this as a source of livelihood! This is an act of bullying and harassing Yoga teachers. I want to take a stand against this injustice. Will you join me? Please help me! I would like to demand justice and fair treatment for all Yoga instructors at Puregym. If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone. We need to stand together and fight this together. Bullying is wrong!
