Handicapped parking on ShoreFront Parkway
Hi, my name is Michelle Wudowsky. I live in Far Rockaway. I am conducting this petition as a way to enhance our quality of life on the Rockaway Peninsula. After Superstorm Sandy, our beaches and boardwalk were rebuilt beautifully. Ramps were put in, concessions were rebuilt , comfort stations were added, to beautify the community. Our handicapped residents were not included. Currently, there is ONE municipal parking lot on Beach 93 and Shorefront parkway, there is NO HANDICAPPED PARKING along this stretch from roughly Beach 60 to Beach 108 street. Handicapped people must drive the length of Shorefront parkway, hoping, and praying there is an empty spot on the street, in a beach community , on a beautiful beach day. There used to be a concrete divider running the length of Shorefront parkway, which was for bicycle riders. This has since been removed. What the community would like to see, is that space being used for handicapped parking. People that CANNOT walk two blocks to go to the beach. From Beach 9 th to roughly Beach 17, there is parking along the boardwalk, WITH spots also for the handicapped. Let's let our seniors, and handicapped know that they DO MATTER in our community, and they can enjoy ALL our beach community can offer. Thank you very much.
