Gun Deaths: FBI Must Create Open Access Database
US gun violence has become an epidemic, yet we have little to no information to truly prevent more lives lost. The FBI and CDC MUST collect and provide open access data of all gun deaths and metropolitan gun laws in America so that social scientists may analyze the data and find a solution. Since 1996, Congress has halted any government research into gun violence, but it is not enough for federal institutions to begin data collection and analysis. This data must be available to the public for accountability We demand that this information be collected and available to the public for all gun deaths across the nation--the type of death, weapons used, clip size, date of occurrence and gun laws in the locality of these deaths at the time of occurrence. Whether you are pro-gun control or against any regulation, we can all agree that the more information we have available to us, the more informed decisions we can make. We are tired of the cliche arguments and ready to find scientifically based solutions.
