Support Jesse Williams
I try to ignore ignorance, but these recent rants after the wonderful comments of Jesse Williams after receiving the BET Humanitarian Award calling him a racist and all sorts of unnecessary and undeserved names I'd like to send him and his family support and encouragement.
Call For a Public Hearing on The Chicago Vehicle Sticker Program
On Tuesday, July 15th , the entire Chicago Vehicles Sticker Program collapsed and terribly failed Chicago motorists causing the extension of the sticker deadline. This is the fifth breech in the system within the last 3 months with no explanation to the public or to you.First, it was reported that moving forward there will be no grace period for paying for city stickers in the new year round program. Although, this new policy will increase revenues $4.5 million dollars it is feared that this action will result in burdensome fines and penalties on Chicago City residents and businesses.Secondly, the Chicago City Clerk’s office website was hacked about a month ago. There has been no accountability on the impact of this breech. Thirdly, many Chicago residents paid online as well as on time for their annual city stickers and still have yet to receive the stickers.Fourthly, older residents of City of Chicago have not received their senior discount neither have hardship applicants received responses regarding their city stickers. This has caused a tremendous financial burden to residents that are most in need. Lastly, the computer glitch on July 15th has caused a risk of burden to many Chicago residents, businesses and commerce as well as overburdening public safety. Therefore, with the intent of relevant transparency, I call upon you Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago City Council to conduct a public hearing to investigate and report to the residents and motorists. I request a full accounting of the impact of the preceding issues as well as: 1) loss of revenues to the city caused by the Office of the City Clerk and 2) the burden on businesses and services with a sense of urgency.
