Tell Whole Foods to treat their customers with respect
My elderly, diabetic, disabled mother has been shopping almost exclusively at Whole foods for over twenty years. She owns a non-profit, and has promoted their stores on her website. She never fails to tell everyone about how wonderful Whole Foods is---until last week that is. On October 23rd she was accused of stealing food because she brought a container of soup (with a marked price on it) out to the patio to eat before shopping, with the full intention of paying for it with her groceries. A security guard called the police, refused to let her back in to pay and told her never to come back. My mom has been a loyal Whole Foods customer for over TWENTY years and has collaborated with them through her non-profit. She's never stolen anything from them ever! I was outraged to hear of this. I couldn't believe the callousness of the management, who completely ignored my mother's age, mobility issues and need to sit down to eat due to her diabetes. Many times people open a bag of chips or consume a snack while shopping and pay for it at the register with their groceries. This was no different. She was still on the premises. The management at Whole Foods owes Marika Love an apology and needs to retract their baseless accusation immediately! I also feel she deserves some kind of compensation for the public humiliation of having the police called while she was innocently eating a cup of soup. She wasn't given the benefit of the doubt, but was treated like a criminal. This is shameful and unacceptable. Please join me in calling out Whole Foods for this outrageous behavior!
